British Conservative MP Amber Rudd cried foul when her invitation to speak at an International Women’s Day event was revoked by the UNWomen society at Oxford University.
The decision came after pressure from the student body, who thought it a tad inappropriate to host the former minister who oversaw the Windrush scandal, in which elderly British Afro-Caribbean citizens who had spent most of their lives in the UK were wrongly deported to their countries of origin. Many became destitute or severely ill; at least 14 people have since died.
