While some countries have opted to retaliate against US President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs on imports, India has so far taken the path of negotiation.
From 9 April Indian goods faced tariffs of up to 27 per cent, but countries like China, Vietnam, Thailand and Bangladesh faced higher rates. In terms of competition, this could potentially work in India’s favour as it creates the potential for expansion into the US market for goods like textiles.1
