Ten years in the making, Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend! – the latest offering from Canadian post-rockers Godspeed You! Black Emperor – has been so keenly awaited that all its LPs and CDs sold out before the discs could be ferried to the shops. Post-rock, in GYBE’s case, refers to a guitar, tape, violin and much else besides; it’s a band with a healthy interest in the kind of musical drones more often associated with Indian ragas and experimental composers such as La Monte Young.
