Mali’s blind musical duo speak to Graeme Green about the ‘refugee crisis’ and why extremist efforts to stop the music will ultimately fail.
Despite the many problems in the world, including Mali, your music is generally upbeat and celebratory. Why is that?
Mariam (M): We wanted to make people dance and to spread a message that everyone can coexist in peace, in love, with a greater sense of solidarity.
