The humanitarian crisis in the central Mediterranean continues unabated as European countries prioritize borders over lives — but rescuers are refusing to stand idly by.
The search-and-rescue organizations SOS Humanity, Mission Lifeline and Sea-Eye launched a legal challenge in April against the Italian maritime authorities for forcing their ships to sail to distant ports following rescue operations.
