There’s probably never been a more interesting time to interview political historian, filmmaker and novelist Tariq Ali.
Now an octogenarian, Ali is still a physically and intellectually imposing man: tall and white-haired with a sceptical expression in his eyes. The announcement of his upcoming book, ongoing general elections across Europe and America and bloody wars raging across the globe seemed as good a moment as any to request his time.
