Recently I’ve been taking steps to reduce my carbon footprint. For example, I’ve stopped using my monster truck to go to the shops; I always switch my kids off at night; and 80 per cent of my recent stand-up comedy is recycled from old Rory Bremner jokes. Hey: there’s no use in wasting punch lines.
Of course, not everyone is as thoughtful (and handsome) as me. Most people are reluctant to sacrifice their lifestyle to save the planet – which leads to some very unusual excuses for opposing green solutions. For example, there’s a scene in that excellent documentary Age Of Stupid where the people of Bedfordshire reject a proposal for wind farms. Why? Because according to them, wind farms would ‘spoil the view’.
