Citizens from across Europe are retracing the footsteps of refugees by walking from Germany to Syria. The Civil March for Aleppo began in December and over 1,000 people have participated so far. Though most join for a few days or hours, some are hoping to walk the entire 3,400 kilometres.

Sleeping in tents and sports halls along the reverse route south, the group hopes to reach Syria by September. If unable to enter the war-torn country, they will send a message of peace from the Turkish-Syrian border.
