Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has narrowly survived a no-confidence vote over his handling of the 2023 train crash that killed 57 people. Public anger has not subsided in the two years since the disaster with hundreds of thousands protesting in February over allegations his government had failed to fix critical railway lines. But a majority of 157 lawmakers – in a 300-seat parliament – rejected the motion on 7 March.
A police spy is alleged to have infiltrated Palestinian rights groups in Barcelona. An investigation by publication La Directa found that the Spanish officer had spied on activists between 2019 and 2020 in an operation described by her victims as an ‘attack on social and political movements’. The officer is the latest to be uncovered inside activist groups in Spain.
