Saad Murtadha lives in Kirkuk. He works as an engineering technician but has been publishing freelance cartoons in his local newspaper since 2003. He says: ‘With cartoons, you can make everyone from all the world understand your point. Just be brief and be brilliant and don’t show the people a long boring article to read.’
This cartoon was inspired by a tweet from the Egyptian journalist Marina Makari: ‘Separate the religion from the state and we will obtain freedom free from any religious current defining it.’
