Like the two bands Jerusalem in My Heart and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Esmerine hail from Montreal’s extraordinarily creative experimental music scene. Favouring, for the most part, acoustic instruments, marimba-player Bruce Cawdron and cellist Rebecca Foon are at the centre of a small chamber quartet that composes a repertoire which extends the contemporary classical canon in intriguing directions.
