In London's Parliament Square, protesters provide a visible alternative to the politics of vested interest. Hannah Martin reports.
In October, a large group called Occupy Democracy held a space in London’s Parliament Square for nine days, in the face of police brutality, unforgiving weather and a considerable lack of sleep.
The group was there to provide a visible alternative to the politics of vested interest: to try to model what real democracy could look like. With workshops, debate and shared decision-making, the camp gained huge support via social media, while receiving little mainstream coverage.
