Husna, a 17-year-old Yazidi girl, and her family have been living in Rawanga, a camp for displaced people in Dohuk, northern Iraqi Kurdistan, since 2014. They were forced to abandon their home as ISIS advanced on their village on 3 August.
‘It was seven in the morning,’ she recalls. ‘My uncle woke us up and said we had to leave immediately.’ Husna and her family were fortunate enough to escape in time and evade ISIS checkpoints. But with the whole region surrounded, there was nowhere to take shelter.
