From forested minefields to bombed neighbourhoods, Lebanon’s communities are finding new ways to navigate the deadly remnants of war. Gergana Krasteva reports.
Standing beneath the towering cedars of the Chouf Biosphere Reserve in Mount Lebanon, Bahaa Flayhan points to a patch of forest that Israeli tanks tore through during the civil war in the 1980s.
‘The trees have regrown, but you can tell from the geography of the place where the tanks were,’ says Flayhan, who works at the reserve.
