I was born 26 years ago in the Saharawi refugee camps near Tindouf in southwest Algeria. I now live in the largest camp, Smara, and am studying English literature at the University of Batna in Algeria.
I have been a very keen calligrapher since childhood, and I believe that art and literature combine well to raise awareness of the Western Saharan situation. My art touches upon the displacement of the Saharawi people and the right to freedom of expression; some of the most important human rights issues in the political situation of Western Sahara.
