More legal action could be on Europe’s horizon.

Older women are one of the groups most vulnerable to the series of heatwaves that have hit Europe over the last few years, and political inaction on the climate crisis has been making that danger worse. So in 2022 a group of over 2,000 Swiss women, all aged over 64, launched a court case against their government’s failure to meet its climate targets, arguing that it was putting their lives directly at risk.
