When international media and human rights lawyer Mark Stephens was told by a woman friend that her husband had been drugging and sexually assaulting her for a decade while she lay unconscious, he was stunned. The survivor had an outwardly perfect marriage to a doctor – but this allowed her abuser illegal access to the sedatives he had been secretly plying her with.
