Cuba in Splinters is a collection of new short stories by young Cuban writers. It’s edgy, sparky, inventive, satirical – and published abroad.1
What comes through the collection, overwhelmingly, is frustration and depression. Recurrent themes are emptiness and loss – of hope, of friends who have left the island. This is reflected in Cuba’s demography, as the population ages and the young leave to work abroad.
