Ghanaians, whose country is known as a beacon of democracy in Africa, recently took to Twitter to call out global media giant CNN for its misrepresentation of the country’s economic status.
In an article written as part of its report on Ghana’s successful and peaceful elections, CNN indicated that ‘the national economy will be [newly elected president] Akuffo Addo’s major challenge. Oil reserves were discovered off the coast of Ghana in 2007, but Ghanaians struggle to obtain food and day-to-day services. Rolling blackouts are common and citizens stand in long lines to obtain products.’
